The objectives
of any meaningful equipment maintenance program should be to outsource
the maintenance and administration of corrective repair procedures for
select equipment types throughout the organization. The program must
be more cost-effective than the current maintenance system, and be able
to provide administrative efficiencies to participating departments
or affiliates. The designated outcomes should, therefore, include, but
not be limited to:
- Flexible maintenance program options.
- A financially guaranteed equipment maintenance budget.
- The ability for the organization to use its current
service providers without restrictions.
- Evaluation of current vendor service in order to make
recommendations that will improve the quality of maintenance services
and minimize equipment downtime.
- Development of database intelligence on the organization’s
selected equipment to include repair history, cost, service vendor activity,
and overall equipment performance that will enable the organization
to make informed decisions regarding the selected equipment.
- A reduction in current maintenance costs and administrative
services.
- Extensive management reporting.
